Why this exists
Design My Golf Simulator was created around a simple observation: simulator packages are often priced as equipment bundles, while homeowners want to know whether a system will fit their room and what the complete project will cost after adding the screen, projector, mat, computer, software, protection, installation, and room finish work.
The Cost Planner brings room dimensions, equipment, compatibility, and pricing into one transparent planning experience. It helps users compare options, understand cost drivers, and enter professional conversations better informed.
How the estimate works
- Current published examples. Equipment ranges are built from manufacturer-published product and package prices and retailer guidance, each recorded with its price type (list, sale, starting, or annual) and access date.
- Regular prices, not promotions. When a page showed a temporary sale, we note it but anchor the range on the regular price.
- Current room-dimension guidance from manufacturers and retailers, applied as planning thresholds.
- Structured allowances. Where public pricing is sparse — construction, finish work, labor — we use clearly labeled planning allowances.
- Separate scopes. Equipment, room systems, labor, and construction are separate lines, and annual software and memberships are kept apart from the one-time total.
- Low/high ranges. Line items combine into a total range that is narrower than adding every extreme, widens when information is missing, and narrows as you make choices and add a ZIP code.
- Explicit exclusions and open items appear with every result.
- Visible dates and versions. Every result shows the pricing-model version (2026.10-1), pricing review date (October 2026), and equipment-catalog version (2026.10-1).
How the fit check works
The fit check compares your clear dimensions with published guidance for ceiling height, width by handedness, screen-to-ball distance, space behind the ball, launch-monitor placement, screen size, and projector throw. It reports the limiting dimension, explains why, and suggests changes only when our rule set shows they help. Product-specific room guidance is used only for products in our dated catalog with official specifications. No calculation can guarantee swing clearance; we always recommend testing a controlled full swing in the room.
Independence
We are not a launch-monitor manufacturer, equipment retailer, room designer, contractor, electrician, or installer, and we have no affiliate or partnership relationship with the companies we cite. Manufacturer and retailer names appear only as cited examples and sources. Sources reviewed include: Awesome Golf, BenQ, Bushnell Golf, Carl's Place, E6 Golf (TruGolf), Foresight Sports, Full Swing, GSPro, Garmin, ProjectorCentral, Rapsodo, SkyTrak, Trackman, Uneekor; the full list with access dates and links is on the sources page. If we ever enter a commercial relationship, we will disclose it clearly where it applies.

Reviews and versions
Pricing and catalog data are reviewed periodically and versioned. Saved projects keep the pricing and catalog versions they were created with, so you can see when a range was calculated under older assumptions.
